In the ongoing 2022 edition, Chennai Super Kings are yet to kickstart their winning campaign. They haven’t got a favorable start as they have lost their first two league stage matches against the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Supergiants, respectively.
But, these things might get a chance and favor the men in yellow. The team’s set pacer, Deepak Chahar, is set to play his first match of this edition. According to the Times of India’s latest report, Deepak Chahar will be playing his first match of this season against the Punjab Kings.
Deepak Chahar had faced a setback as he suffered an injury during the third T20I match against the West Indies. Based on the level of his injury, many speculated about his doubtful participation in the 2022 edition. As it suggests, he had already missed a few matches of the Chennai Super Kings.
But, the 29-year old Indian pacer is expected to make a comeback in the game against the Punjab Kings. This news comes out as the quickie had shared an update about his fitness through an Instagram story. As the Instagram story suggests, we see Deepak Chahar bowling in the nets of the BCCI facility. Also, he had given a caption to his story, ‘Update on Demand.’
Currently, Chennai Super Kings stands at the eighth position on the points table, as they have lost their first two games against the Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Supergiants. With several weak factors, the defending champions hope to get back to their winning ways in the upcoming days of the tournament. And with the inclusion of Deepak Chahar into the squad, the team would get a robust boost to their bowling attack.
Deepak Chahar has been bought by the Chennai Super Kings for a whopping price of INR 14 Crore for the 2022 edition, making it the franchise’s most expensive deal. In the 2018 edition, he was being roped in by the Chennai Super Kings; for a mere base price of INR 80 Lacs.
