Cricket Australia (CA) has dismissed the explosive charges of Justin Langer after the former head coach accused players and officials of engineering his dismissal.
Langer singled out Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch, saying they should have come forward sooner.
Cricket Australia on the comments of Justin Langer

Former Australia coach Justin Langer called out the nameless “cowards” who leaked information against him prior to his departure on Wednesday, but he also said he should have improved his relationship with the organization that governs the sport. After tense contract negotiations with Cricket Australia and failing to earn the public support of important players, the 52-year-old left his position in February. Despite leading Australia to a 4-0 Ashes victory over England in 2021 and then to success at the Twenty20 World Cup that same year, he was dissatisfied with being given a six-month extension.
Despite altering his coaching style and having some success with the team, Langer argued that he deserved a contract extension that lasted longer than six months.
The then-head coach turned down a short-term extension after numerous formal and informal feedback sessions, according to CA chief Nick Hockley. Hockley supported the players despite being disappointed by Langer’s remarks.

“I am disappointed by Justin’s comments unfairly criticising some of our players. The playing group are aware they have my full support. Regular formal and informal opportunities to provide and receive feedback took place throughout his tenure, which is consistent with a high-performance environment. Following a comprehensive process, Justin was offered a short-term contract extension, which he rejected,” he said.
Darren Lehmann was replaced as Australia’s head coach by Justin Langer after the ball-tampering controversy in March 2018. After guiding Australia to their first T20 World Cup and a series victory in the 2021–22 Ashes, he announced his resignation.
Former cricket players Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, and Matthew Hayden criticized the board for Langer’s unfair treatment.
