In today’s cricket, fielding makes as much difference to the game as much as batting or bowling does. Therefore, teams put additional emphasis on fielding and that has very often won games for teams.
Good fielding practice has started to bring rich dividends for Royal Challengers Bangalore. The team already boasts of the likes of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell who have brilliant records of fielding. Now, the overall standard has rubbed onto fast bowlers as well. The latest fielding sensation is Mohammed Siraj who was brilliant at the boundary in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians.
Siraj pulls off a stunner
It was in the 10th over when Akash Deep was bowling to an on-song Ishan Kishan. In the second ball of the over, Kishan tried to hoick the ball over the keeper’s head towards the boundary. Mohammed Siraj who was bowling at third man ran across to his right and grabbed a brilliant running catch. It was a big wicket at that juncture as we are all aware of what Kishan is capable off once he is set. Luckily, he was sent back for a mere 26 runs.
Twitter appreciates effort of Mohammed Siraj
It is never easy for a fast bowler to run across the boundary rope like that pull off a screamer. Due to their built and bowling action, fast bowlers are not as agile and nimble on their field as the other players. Therefore, they are fielded in positions which does not require much effort.
However, Siraj’s this effort defies the norm of fielding by fast bowlers. He was lightening quick and covered his ground. He had his eyes on the ball and perfectly balanced himself to take a wonderful catch. This catch also made Twitter go crazy as they could not believe how Kishan had thrown away his wicket. Many criticized his approach and questioned the price tag that he was purchased at.

Mumbai Indians should have spent the money on good bowlers instead of spending large 15.25 crores on Ishan kishan, kishan really creates pressure on non strikers every time by statpading. #RCBvsMI
