India has a long history of integrating the sports and film industries. Cricketers enjoy watching these actors on the big screen just as much as actors enjoy watching cricketers play their game on the field.
A few cricketers have experienced the entertainment industry as well by acting in films or TV shows. And because cricket is the most popular sport in India, there are many cricket fans in the film industry as well. Some of the well-known cricket enthusiasts include Suniel Shetty, Ranveer Singh, and Kichcha Sudeep.
Kichcha Sudeep got a pleasant surprise from former Indian captain Kapil Dev. Sudeep received the bat that the 1983 World Cup champion captain used in one of the tournament’s games, which made the actor ecstatic. After receiving the autographed bat from the 1983 World Cup-winning team, Sudeep expressed his reaction on Twitter.
“Wohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh … What a Sunday .. thank uuuu @therealkapildev sirrrrr for this hugeeeeeee surprise I’m waking th to. Wowwww… wasnt expecting this. This a classic piece and I’m right now feeling on top of the world. Thank you thank you .” – Sudeep tweeted.

Last year during an interview, Sudeep recalled his favorite memory of the World Cup winning captain.

“I don’t remember the exact year as it could be some time be some time between 1986 and 1988 when the Indian cricket team was staying at the Taj Westend hotel in the city. My family had taken me to get a glimpse of Kapil. I went around to find my icon Kapil but couldn’t. When I had almost lost hope, I finally saw Kapil taking a stroll. I was so excited to meet the Indian team I realised when I was wearing two different shoes on my feet. Chasing Kapil down was not an easy task as he was walking real quick. So, I finally ran behind him and pulled on his coat to stop,” Sudeep said.
