Boria Majumdar, a cricket journalist, is on the brink of being banned by the BCCI for a period of two years, during which time he would not be permitted to enter any cricket venue in the nation. According to a report in Indian Express, the BCCI would also recommend to the International Cricket Council that Majumdar be banned from international cricket. A three-member panel appointed by the BCCI deemed Boria Majumdar to be guilty of threatening India’s wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha, according to the news report.
The Indian Express reported that an anonymous BCCI official said, “We would be notifying all state units of the Indian cricket board to not let him inside stadiums.” We will not provide him media credentials for any of our home matches, and we will write to the International Cricket Council to have him blacklisted. Players will not be instructed not to engage in conversation with the journalist.”
According to Wriddhiman Saha, the incident occurred on February 19 after he posted a screenshot of his discussion with the journalist, which indicated how Majumdar pressured the cricketer to appear in an interview, on his Twitter account.
This is what I’m up against after all of my services to Indian cricket… from a so-called ‘Respected’ journalist! “This is the direction in which journalism has gone.” As part of his tweets, Saha included screenshots of supposed texts that he claimed to have received. The tweet reads, “You did not call.” I will never again do an interview with you. I don’t take insults well at all. And this is something I will keep in mind.”

Meanwhile, Boria Majumdar reacted angrily to the claims, claiming that Saha is selectively making parts of the tweets public, and as a result, the facts have been misconstrued. He further said that he intends to take legal action against the cricketer in question. Following the event, numerous Indian cricketers came out in public and requested the BCCI to take in. In response to Saha’s claim, the BCCI appointed a three-person team consisting of vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia to investigate it.
Saha is currently playing for Gujarat Titans in this session of IPL, he is yet to make a mark in this session. He has been on the Indian cricket scene for quite a time. While earlier, he was used as the secondary WK in case of Dhoni’s absence, after Dhoni’s retirement Saha became the primary WK of the team. He has also consistently been a part of a number of IPL teams like SRH, KXIP, GT etc.
