The confrontation between former Indian captain Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir during Match 43 of IPL 2023 in Lucknow became the most controversial event of the latest season. After Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won by 18 runs against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Kohli and Gambhir had an argument.
Kyle Mayers, who plays for LSG and the West Indies, shared his views about the incident. He mentioned that showing aggression is usually beneficial. It’s worth mentioning that Kohli became upset when Gambhir abruptly took Mayers away while he was talking with the RCB player.

“It’s great, sometimes you need to get at your opposition, to create any chance to get out of the game. Being aggressive is always good, it shows courage and the willingness to get your team over the line,” Mayers said.
After the event, the Cricket Authority in India (BCCI) took strong action against Kohli and Gambhir, giving them significant fines. Gambhir had to pay 75 percent of his match earnings and he also confessed to committing a Level 2 offense according to Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, Kohli was fined the full amount of his match earnings.

Mayers was questioned about which player’s dismissal he would value more, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. He picked Kohli, considering him the finest player in all three types of cricket matches.
“I think Kohli, Any bowler would want to dismiss Kohli, the best player across all three formats,” he said.
