Teams assembled their respective squads to the best of their abilities during the IPL auction 2022. Some of the biggest names were auctioned off, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. Mumbai Indians paid Rs 15.25 crore for wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, making him the most expensive purchase of the IPL auction 2022.
Some big names, on the other hand, were unable to find buyers at the IPL auction. Some of these players can go for high amounts in IPL 2023
- Steve Smith

Steve Smith was the captain of the Rajasthan Royals not long ago. Many considered Smith to be one of the most consistent overseas players in the IPL, but he went unsold at the IPL Auctions after a poor showing in IPL 2020 and 2021. Smith has a lot of IPL experience and a good track record in Indian conditions, but it appears that the franchises didn’t think he was worth $2 million. However, because of his experience, the Australian can return to IPL 2023.
- Shakib Al Hasan

Despite his talent with the bat and the ball, no team made a bid for Shakib. His poor performance in the IPL 2021 season may have worked against him. Shakib scored 47 runs in eight games for KKR and took only four wickets. He has a lot of experience and could be back in the IPL in 2023.
- Chris Lynn

At the 2018 mega auction, Chris Lynn was one of the most expensive signings. The Australian superstar, on the other hand, went unsold at this year’s mega auction. With the limited opportunities he had, he did a decent job for the Mumbai Indians in the 2021 season. Franchises may consider re-signing him in IPL 2023 because he is a white-ball specialist.
- James Vince

Many consider James Vince to be one of the best T20 batters in the world, but his services have never piqued the interest of IPL teams. The England star had a base price of 2 crores when he entered the mega auction, but he went unsold. Vince has excelled in almost every T20 league he has participated in thus far. With several famous batters failing to prove their worth, he can bag big bucks in the upcoming auctions.
- Dawid Malan
Dawid Malan, the former World No. 1 T20I batter, played for the Punjab Kings in the 2021 season but was not offered a contract in the 2022 Auction. In T20I cricket, Malan has proven to be a match-winner, but the franchises did not bid $1.5 crore for his services. It will be interesting to see if he returns next year. If he does, he can prove to be one of the biggest game-changers for any side.
