Out of the 12 teams in the main draw in the United Arab Emirates, the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 has finally selected its four semifinalists: Pakistan, New Zealand, England, and Australia. On November 10, England will face New Zealand in the first semifinal in Abu Dhabi, while Pakistan will face Australia in the second semifinal in Dubai on November 11.
On Sunday, Pakistan became the first team in the Super 12 to win all five of their games, while England led Group 1 with four victories out of five games. However, it is still too early to predict Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
In this article, we look at the reasons why Pakistan will fail to win the T20I World Cup 2021.
1. Peaking Too Early
Pakistan has played some exciting cricket so far, but their victories would be for naught if they cannot sustain the same level of performance in the semi-finals and final. It’s possible that Pakistan reached their peak too soon and may struggle in the knockout stages.
2. Entire Team Not Contributing in Batting
In their first four matches, Pakistan has amassed a total of 624 runs. Only two guys, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have contributed a total of 402 runs out of the 624 total. It implies that Pakistan’s openers have provided 64 percent of the team’s runs, while the rest of the batting lineup has contributed 36 percent.
3. Hard Fought Wins
The victory over India made headlines throughout the world, but many people overlook the fact that the next two wins, over New Zealand and even Afghanistan, were hard-fought. In fact, there was a period in the win over Namibia when Pakistan’s bowling seemed a little shaky. Pakistan had one clear victory against a difficult opponent and three tight victories over teams with less skill. This is something to be concerned about.
4. England Too Strong
England has been the most outstanding team in this World Cup so far, and their route will cross with Pakistan’s at some point if both teams make it to the final. Nothing is assured against England, as Pakistan’s terrible T20I record against them demonstrates. Only six T20Is have been played between the two teams, with Pakistan winning six and England winning thirteen. Pakistan supporters should be concerned since their team has a dismal victory percentage of 32.5 percent.
5. Australia
Pakistan has never beaten Australia in the knockout rounds of a 50-over World Cup or T20 World Cups. The current Australian team doesn’t look very strong and some people are already looking past them and are happy that Pakistan will be facing them rather than England. That said, no matter how bad their record is or how great the opponent is, Australia can never be written out or underestimated in a world cup.
