The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a poor performance in IPL 2022, and they are now focusing on their preparation for IPL 2023.
CSK has good-quality players with a lot of experience. But some of these players could play their last season for the Chennai-based team in the upcoming edition.
1. MS Dhoni

The retirement of MS Dhoni from the IPL will mark a significant moment for numerous cricket fans. As a four-time championship-winning captain, it is anticipated that he will participate in his last season of the tournament in 2023. Given that the 2023 tournament format will have a home-and-away schedule, it is possible that he may retire after that season. Dhoni has expressed his desire to play his final IPL season in Chennai, and there is a chance that he may get his wish in the upcoming season.
2. Ajinkya Rahane

During the IPL 2023 auction, Ajinkya Rahane was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for his base price of Rs 50 Lakh. Although Rahane had previously played for Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants, he is a recent addition to the CSK team. Despite some cricket experts believing that Rahane may not be selected for the 2023 IPL, the CSK decision-makers had different plans. It is possible that Rahane will participate in his last IPL season during the upcoming edition.
3. Ambati Rayudu

Chennai Super Kings bought Ambati Rayudu for almost Rs 7 crores for IPL 2022. However, his performances were not up to the mark, and he even announced his retirement on Twitter, which he later deleted after a few hours. Rayudu’s performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy was also unimpressive. Despite this, he was fortunate enough not to be released by the CSK franchise. It is possible that the IPL 2023 could be his final season with CSK.
4. Moeen Ali

Chennai Super Kings have chosen to retain England all-rounder Moeen Ali for the 2023 IPL season. In the previous season, Ali could only manage to score 244 runs and take eight wickets while playing for CSK, who finished in the ninth position out of the total ten teams. IPL 2023 could be Ali’s final season with CSK.
5. Ravindra Jadeja

There appears to be a significant issue between Ravindra Jadeja and the CSK management. According to some reports, Jadeja voluntarily stepped down from the CSK captaincy, while others suggest that he was forced to do so. In such situations, it is often prudent for the player to take a step back. Jadeja will continue to play for CSK in the IPL 2023, but it is possible that this will be his final season with the team.
