Every IPL there are players who have a very good outing and then there are players who probably don’t want to remember the season. While youngsters look to perform and make a name for themselves so that the selectors notice, even the senior pros try to perform consistently so that their place in the national team remains unaffected. We are aware it’s still early days of the league but we thought of compiling a list of international players who have still not fired.
1) Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 12.25 crore in the ongoing IPL 2022 mega auction. KKR were desperately looking for a captain who could strengthen their middle over and steer the innings, however with an only one-half century in 5 innings and scores of 20,13,26,10,54, Shreyas has yet not done what the team wanted him to do.
2) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma is a household name in India, his heroics in the 2019 world cup are something that no true cricket fan will ever forget. He is known for his big-hitting abilities and completely turns the game on his individual performance. If anything his three double hundreds are a living testament to his hitting abilities, however, the star India opener has struggled to find his groove this season and has struggled to score runs with scores of 41,10,3,26 and 28. It’s high time for the skipper to step up and take his team out of the losing slump.
3) Kieron Pollard
The fact that they have yet not managed to win a single match is what is hurting the fans and the team management. MI and Pollard go a long way back and Pollard has literally won them so many matches single headedly. However, this season has not been good for him either with the bat or the ball. 3,22,22,0 and 10 and a bowling performance that even Pollard would not like to remember, it’s big-time for the Caribbean veteran to step up and fight for his team’s glory.
4) Jasprit Bumrah
You might be wondering by now that the writer has something against the MI squad but trust me it really hurts to criticise the players I sincerely like and admire. Jasprit Bumrah is the leader of India’s as well as Mumbai bowling unit, however, with only 4 wickets in 5 matches (3 of which came in one match), Bumrah has performed below his team’s expectations and has not been able to instil the fear in the batsman mind for which he is known.
5) Matthew Wade
The Australians had set the hopes really high after he helped Australia win the T-20 WC by smashing Shaheen Afridi for three sixes. He was bought by the new IPL franchise Gujarat Titans expecting a similar type of exploit from their opener. However, with scores of 30,1,6,19 in four outings, Wade is yet to make an impact on the team.
