The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most consistent sides in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The CSK franchise is widely recognized for keeping its core group intact since it is led by the most successful captain in Indian cricket history. Over the years, we’ve seen MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, and Ravindra Jadeja save CSK from a variety of difficult situations.
Chennai Super Kings had a terrific IPL 2021 season before it was interrupted, and keeping players will be a major challenge for them because everyone had contributed so well. CSK suffered its worst season last year. After a lot of effort, the franchise was able to secure a seventh-place finish. This is a big setback for a squad that had previously made the playoffs every year. However, it was vital since they needed to see into the future. This time, the middle order appears to be more powerful than ever.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) performed admirably in the first half of the season, but the club may have challenges when the IPL continues due to the absence of a few key players. This will be a huge setback to the Chennai Super Kings’ team balance, which was ideal in this edition. They’ve already won five of their first seven games and have a respectable run rate. Three more victories would put them in a strong position to enter the playoffs, but it won’t be easy.
Last season, the loss of Suresh Raina, probably their finest batsman, was one of CSK’s biggest setbacks. Despite his retirement from international cricket, the powerful left-hander remains one of their most significant players this season. Suresh Raina, a tenacious player, holds the record for the most runs scored by any player for the Chennai-based IPL club. Raina is considered one of CSK’s most important players. During his time with CSK, Raina has produced a number of memorable performances. His 87 off just 25 balls in Qualifier 2 of the 2014 edition against Kings XI Punjab was one of the finest of all time.
Sam Curran was one of Chennai Super Kings’ few bright spots from the previous season. In the previous season, he took 13 wickets at an economy rate of 8.19. He also hit critical home runs at the bottom of the order and at the top of the game. In the third One-Day International against India, he hit 95* and battled till the final ball. Sam Curran’s recent climb to prominence as a valuable all-rounder has been remarkable. He’s been touted as a regular in the CSK camp and as someone who may play a key role in the future core. Curran is the X factor in the CSK team again this year, as he has the ability to turn a game on its head with both bat and ball. This season so far, Curran has picked 9 wickets in 7 games and is CSK’s highest wicket-taker.
Shardul Thakur was purchased by the Chennai Super Kings in January 2018. Thakur appeared in very few matches for Chennai Super Kings in the 2019 Indian Premier League. He did, however, play in the final and got two wickets against the Mumbai Indians. Shardul Thakur has been very impressive recently. It all began in Brisbane, Australia, when he first produced a key half-century at a key time of the match before taking seven wickets. He was the highest wicket-taker in the T20I series against England, with 8 wickets in five games, continuing his excellent trend. He’s also vital for CSK. This season he has picked 5 wickets so far.
Faf du Plessis
Faf du Plessis is one of the Chennai Super Kings’ most significant players. The 36-year-old scored 320 runs in just seven games, making him the league’s third-highest run-scorer. Faf du Plessis was one of the bright spots for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team, scoring the most runs by a single player for CSK. Du Plessis and his partner Ruturaj Gaikwad stitched 100-run partnerships and won two games of their own. His ability to function as an anchor and let other batters play their natural game has helped him establish himself as one of the Chennai Super Kings’ batting line-up constants. For the Dhoni-led team this season, Du Plessis has laid the groundwork for incredible chases and match-winning totals.
